Dear Parishioners and Friends of Our Lady of Guadalupe,
In today’s Gospel we hear Jesus calling His disciples. They were fishermen, this was their means of lively hood. When they were called they immediately left their nets and followed Him.
The word that really strikes me is: IMMEDIATELY. They left everything without any questions to follow Jesus. How often does the Lord call us and we might very well put up many questions before saying yes.
The Lord calls each of us to follow Him more closely. Let us reflect on our life and ask if there is any reason why I hesitate to follow Him more closely.
Let us also pray today that more men and women will answer the call to follow Jesus as priests, sisters, brothers, deacons and lay leaders. May they have the courage to follow Him to serve God’s People.
Have a blessed week,
Fr. Tony
Blessing of the Throats Friday February 3 after the 7am and Noon Mass We remember St. Blaise on his feast day by taking two candles, crossing them against the throat, and saying the following prayer: Through the intercession of St. Blaise, bishop and martyr, may God deliver you from ailments of the throat and from every other evil. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
